Tuesday Sports Update – Rangers Fall To Rays

Vogelbach, Mariners Slam Astros

(Houston, TX) — Daniel Vogelbach launched the pinch-hit, grand slam in the eighth inning as the Mariners topped the Astros 4-1 in Houston. Framber Valdez tossed five shutout innings and Hector Rondon took the loss for Houston. Marwin Gonzalez doubled in the lone run. The Astros are four games ahead of Oakland for the division lead.

Astros Closing In On Magic Numbers For Playoff Berth, Division Title

(Houston, TX) — With just 13 games left in the 2018 season, the Astros are closing in on the magic numbers for clinching a playoff berth and winning the AL West. The home team’s magic number for clinching a playoff spot is now at three. Any combination of Astros wins and Tampa Bay losses equaling three will land the Astros in the playoffs. The Astros’ magic number for winning the division is now at nine. Any combination of Astros wins and Athletics losses equaling nine will win the pennant. Of course, the ultimate goal is to repeat as World Series champions.

Cowboys Visit Seahawks Sunday

Report: Rockets To Limit Paul

(Houston, TX) — The Rockets plan to limit Chris Paul this season in order to preserve him for the postseason. The Athletic reports that backup point guards Brandon Knight and Michael Carter-Williams will see a lot of playing time. Paul played just 58 regular season games last year and missed Game Seven of the Western Conference Finals. Training camp opens next week.

Stars Open Preseason Tomorrow
