Rams’ Robey-Coleman: “Age Taken A Toll On Brady”

(Atlanta, GA) — Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman believes age is catching up with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The player best known for committing the uncalled pass interference penalty against New Orleans tells Bleacher Report that Brady is still pretty good, but he’s not the same quarterback he once was. Brady is 41 years old and in his ninth Super Bowl.

Texans Assistant Interviews With 49ers, Packers

(Houston, TX) — Texans offensive assistant coach Wes Welker has interviewed with the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers for openings on their staffs. The five-time Pro Bowl selection has been on the Houston staff the past two seasons after retiring as a player.

Mavs Begin Trip Tomorrow Night

(New York, NY) — The Mavericks will open a three-game trip tomorrow against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. The Mavs have lost five of their last seven games and are 4-and-20 on the road. The Knicks have lost their last 10. Dallas will play Thursday in Detroit and Saturday in Cleveland before returning home February 6th.

Rockets Entertain Pelicans Sans Davis Tonight

(Houston, TX) — Anthony Davis won’t play tonight for the Pelicans when they face the Rockets in Houston. Davis is listed as unavailable because of a finger injury. Davis has said he will not re-sign with New Orleans and requested a trade. The Rockets will try to extend their winning streak to four games. James Harden will try to extend his streak to 24 consecutive game of scoring at least 30 points. The Rockets will go on a three-game trip after playing the Pelicans. They will play Friday in Denver, Saturday at Utah and Monday in Phoenix before returning home on February 6.

Stars Return To Play Tomorrow

(Dallas, TX) — The Stars are back on the ice tomorrow after the NHL All-Star break when they host the Buffalo Sabres. It will be their first game since January 19th when they beat Winnipeg 4-2. The Stars hold the top wild card spot in the West with 52 points in 49 games. Colorado and Vancouver also have 52 points, but have played more games. Anaheim has 51 points and Arizona 50 in the cramped Wild Card race.

Stars Get Oleksiak Back In Trade

(Dallas, TX) — The Stars acquired Jamie Oleksiak from the Penguins in exchange for a 2019 fourth-round draft pick. Ironically, on December 19th, 2017, the Stars sent Oleksiak to Pittsburgh for a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NHL draft. The 26-year-old, 6-foot-7 inch defenseman was the Stars’ first-round pick in the 2011 draft. He appeared in 140 games in five-plus seasons with Dallas before the trade.

Rangers Sign Pitcher Kelley

(Arlington, TX) — The Rangers signed free agent right-hander Shawn Kelly to a one-year contract with an option for 2020. Kelly will earn two and a half million dollars in 2019. The 34-year-old reliever logged a 2.94 ERA in 49 innings in 54 relief appearances last season with the Nationals and A’s. Texas also signed left-handed reliever Chris Nunn to a minor league contract.

(Undated) — The top four are the same in this week’s Top-25 Coaches’ Poll. Tennessee retains the top spot, receiving 31-of-32 first-place votes. Duke is number-two and got the other first-place vote. Virginia is third followed by Gonzaga. Michigan moved up one spot to fifth. Kentucky, Nevada, Michigan State, Marquette and North Carolina round out the top 10.

College Hoops Roundup

(Undated) — In college hoops action, Baylor walloped Oklahoma 77-47 in Norman as the Bears won their fifth straight in Big 12 action. Number-15 Texas Tech blasted TCU 84-65 in Lubbock to hand the Frogs their worst loss of the season. Tonight, Texas will host number-12 Kansas. Tomorrow, SMU will be at Wichita State and LSU will play at Texas A&M. Thursday, North Texas will travel to Old Dominion.
