Astros Sneak Past Giants
(San Francisco, CA) — Marwin Gonzalez drilled the go-ahead home run in the ninth inning as the Astros snuck past the Giants 3-1 in San Francisco. Gonzalez provided all of the offense for Houston in the win. Charlie Morton worked seven innings of one-run ball and Roberto Osuna got the win in his Astros debut. Astros’ Springer To Disabled List
(Houston, TX) — Another Astros All-Star is heading to the disabled list. George Springer was placed on the 10-day DL Monday with a sprained left thumb. He was hurt sliding into second base on Sunday against the Dodgers. He’s expected to be out two weeks and joins Jose Altuve, Lance McCullers Junior and Carlos Correa on the DL. The reigning World Series MVP is batting .250 with 19 home runs this season.

(Dallas, TX) — The Mavericks continue to add to their roster this offseason. Dallas signed Australian forward Ryan Broekhoff to a deal yesterday. The six-foot-seven wing has played the past five seasons in Russia and Turkey. He also suited up for the Australian national team in the Rio Olympics two years ago.

NASCAR CEO France Taking Leave After DUI Arrest
(Charlotte, NC) — NASCAR CEO Brian France is taking a leave of absence after being arrested for DUI and possession of a controlled substance. He was pulled over Sunday night in New York with a blood-alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit. Police say France was also in possession of Oxycodone pills. He issued a statement Monday saying he’s taking a leave to focus on his personal affairs.
Report: Oklahoma’s Murray Done After This Season
(Norman, OK) — Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray will only be a Sooner for one more season. Multiple reports state Murray will join the Oakland A’s following this season. They drafted him ninth overall in this year’s MLB draft and he signed a deal that includes a signing bonus north of four-million-dollars. Murray is the front-runner to replace Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Baker Mayfield this fall. He threw three touchdowns last season as a backup for the Sooners.
Houston’s Oliver Named ESPN’s Best College Football Player
(Houston, TX) — The expectations for Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver are sky-high. ESPN ranked Oliver as its top college football player in a poll released yesterday. Oliver is also expected to be a top-five pick in next year’s NFL Draft. He’s already announced his intentions to skip his senior year. The Cougars open the season on September 1st at Rice.
North Carolina Suspends 13 Football Players For Selling Sneakers
(Chapel Hill, NC) — The North Carolina Tar Heels are suspending 13 football players for selling team-issued Nike Jordan sneakers. Nine of the 13 players will miss four games, including quarterback Chazz Surratt. He started seven games for the Tar Heels last fall. UNC self-reported the violations to the NCAA back in January.
Group Shows Support For Meyer At Ohio Stadium
(Columbus, OH) — Buckeye Nation is standing with football coach Urban Meyer. Around 200 came to Ohio Stadium to show support for Meyer, who is being investigated for what he knew about alleged domestic violence by former assistant coach Zach Smith.
