Tuesday Sports Update – Astros Sweep Indians

(Cleveland, OH) — The Houston Astros are heading back to the American League Championship Series. They cruised past the Indians 11-3 in Game Three of their AL Division Series in Cleveland. George Springer hit a pair of solo homers and Carlos Correa added a three-run shot as the Astros scored 10 runs over the final three innings. They will face either the Yankees or Red Sox in the ALCS.

Red Sox Rout Yankees, Game Four Today

(Bronx, NY) — The Red Sox are a win away from a trip to the American League Championship Series. They blasted the Yankees 16-1 in Game Three of their AL Division Series in the Bronx. Boston banged out 18 hits and now leads the best-of-five series two-games-to-one. The Yankees host Game Four tonight, with C.C. Sabathia opposing Boston’s Rick Porcello. Dodgers Beat Braves To Reach NLCS

(Cumberland, GA) — The Dodgers are headed back to the National League Championship Series. They beat the Braves 6-2 in Game Four of their NL Division Series in Atlanta to advance. David Freese’s two-run, pinch-hit single put LA ahead 3-2 in the sixth and Manny Machado hit a three-run homer in the seventh. LA will play the Brewers in the NLCS starting Friday in Milwaukee.

Cowboys Will Face Jaguars Next

(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys will begin practice tomorrow for a Sunday matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars at AT&T Stadium. Dallas is 2-and-3 after falling to the Texans in overtime on Sunday night. The Cowboys are 2-and-0 at home. The Jags are 3-and-2.

LB Thomas Could Miss Game

(Frisco, TX) — Backup Cowboys linebacker Joe Thomas suffered a foot injury in the second half in Houston and did not return. It appears doubtful he will play against Jacksonville. Coach Jason Garrett said he does not anticipate him being ready in the near future. Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie is also questionable with an ankle issue.

Texans Move On To Bills

(Houston, TX) — The Texans are on a two-game win streak after knocking off the Cowboys on Sunday. Houston stays home this week to host the Buffalo Bills, who are also 2-and-3. Cornerback Kareem Jackson became the franchise’s all-time interception leader after picking off Dak Prescott on Sunday. He has 15 total picks since joining Houston in 2010.

Saints’ Brees Becomes NFL’s All-Time Passing Yards Leader

(New Orleans, LA) — Saints quarterback Drew Brees is now the NFL’s all-time passing yards leader. He threw for 363 yards and three touchdowns as the Saints beat the Redskins 43-19 on Monday Night Football in New Orleans. Brees needed 201 yards to pass Payton Manning for first place. He broke the record with a 62-yard TD pass to Tre’Quan Smith in the second quarter.

Mavs Beat Sixers In China

(Shenzhen, China) — The Mavericks edged by the 76ers 115-112 in a preseason game in Shenzhen, China. Rookie first-round pick Luka Doncic led the Mavs with 15 points, while J.J. Barea contributed 14. Dallas and Philadelphia split the two games in China. The Mavs will wrap up their exhibition slate Friday against Charlotte at the American Airlines Center. They will tipoff the regular season on October 17th against the Suns in Phoenix.

Rockets Host Shanghai Sharks

(Houston, TX) — The Rockets continue preseason action tonight as they host the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. Former Rockets’ center Yao Ming played for Shanghai before coming to the NBA. Following this game, Houston closes out the preseason on Friday at Memphis.
