(St. Petersburg, FL) — The Astros failed to sweep the Rays in the ALDS, losing 10-3 in St. Pete in Game Three. Zack Greinke yielded six runs on five hits, three of them homers, in less than four innings to absorb the loss. Jose Altuve hit a solo shot in the first and Yuli Gurriel added a two-run single in the sixth for the Houston runs. Justin Verlander will start this afternoon for the Astros, who try to wrap up the series at Tropicana Field. If necessary, a Game Five would be Thursday in Houston.

The Nationals also evened their NLDS at two apiece with a 6-1 win over the Dodgers in D.C. Both Game Fives are tomorrow as the Cardinals visit Atlanta and the Nationals head to Los Angeles.
Cowboys Face Jets On Road Next
(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys will try to snap a two-game skid when they face the winless Jets on the road Sunday. America’s Team looked like world-beaters in clobbering the Giants, Redskins and Dolphins to kickoff the season. The last two weeks the Cowboys have lost to the Saints and Packers, two teams with 4-and-1 records.
Texans Cut Linebacker, Face Chiefs Next
(Houston, TX) — The Texans released linebacker Xavier Woodson-Luster from injured reserve. He has had previous stints with the Raiders, Bills and Browns. Houston, which is coming off a 53-32 home victory over the Falcons, will face the Chiefs on Sunday in Kansas City. The Texans are 3-and-2, tied with the Colts for the AFC South lead.
49ers Run Past Browns On MNF
(Santa Clara, CA) — Matt Breida rushed for an 83-yard touchdown on the 49ers’ first play as they ran past the Browns 31-3 on Monday Night Football in Santa Clara. Breida also caught a TD as San Francisco improved to 4-and-0. Baker Mayfield took four sacks, threw two interceptions and lost a fumble for Cleveland. The Browns dropped to 2-and-3.
Stars Face Capitals Tonight
(Washington, DC) — The Stars are looking to pick up their first win of the season when they play the Capitals tonight in D.C. Dallas has scored a total of six goals in losing to the Bruins, Blues and Red Wings to start the season. The Stars return home Thursday to face the Flames.

Mavs Tip Off Preseason Play Tonight
(Dallas, TX) — The Mavericks will play their first preseason game tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Tulsa. Dallas will be without Dwight Powell, who strained his left hamstring during practice Saturday, and J.J. Barea, who is resting after Achilles tendon surgery in January. The Mavs will play tomorrow night against the Pistons in Detroit.

It should be the first time during the preseason the Rockets will team together NBA MVPs James Harden and Russell Westbrook, who was held out of earlier games.
Baylor, SMU Ranked In Latest Coaches Poll
(Undated) — Baylor, coming off a 31-12 victory at Kansas State, is ranked 23rd in the latest Coaches Poll, one behind SMU. The 5-and-0 Bears are ranked for the first time in head coach Matt Rhule’s third year at the university. SMU is 6-and-0, but had to rally to beat Tulsa 43-37 in overtime at home. Texas moved up one to 11th after winning at West Virginia. Texas A&M was idle and remains at number-21.

(Undated) — In college football Saturday, Baylor will face Texas Tech in Waco, SMU will host Temple, Texas A&M will host top-ranked Alabama, and North Texas is at Southern Miss after having last week off. Texas is idle giving the Longhorns two weeks to prepare for number-5 Oklahoma in a Big 12 showdown at the state fair in Dallas. Baylor QB Charlie Brewer has been cleared to play against the Red Raiders after exiting in the fourth quarter after a hard hit at Kansas State. TCU is idle.
