Collin McHugh gave up the losing hit and took the loss. The Astros and A’s are now tied for the AL West lead, with the Mariners three-and-a-half games back.

Astros’ Springer Scratched, Altuve Returns Today

(Houston, TX) — Astros outfielder George Springer did not play yesterday as he dealt with quad tightness. Springer was just activated from the disabled list on Friday due to soreness in his right thumb. Jose Altuve is expected to be activated from the disabled list today.

Cowboys Seeking Safety Help After Woods’ Injury

(Frisco, TX) — Cowboys safety Xavier Woods is expected to be out two-to-four weeks with a pulled hamstring. Dallas signed undrafted rookie safety Dominick Sanders out of Georgia and defensive tackle Caraun Reid, who was a 2014 fifth-round pick of the Lions out of Princeton. Redskins Sign Running Back Adrian Peterson

(Ashburn, VA) — The Redskins are adding veteran running back Adrian Peterson. Washington announced it has signed the seven time Pro Bowler to an undisclosed deal. ESPN reports it’s a one-year contract worth the veteran’s minimum of just over one-million-dollars. The 33-year-old Peterson currently ranks 12th all-time in NFL rushing yards.

Ehlinger Will Start At QB For UT

(Austin, TX) — Texas coach Tom Herman announced sophomore Sam Ehlinger will be the starting quarterback for the September 1st opener at Maryland. He beat out junior Shane Buechele. Herman also said Calvin Anderson, a graduate transfer from Rice, would start at left tackle and freshman Caden Sterns would start at safety.

Post Oak Little League Eliminated

(Williamsport, PA) — The road to a championship is over for the Post Oak Little League. They were eliminated 7-6 by the Georgia team yesterday after blowing a 4-0 lead at the Little League World Series. This was the second loss for Post Oak, which fell to New York on Sunday.
