Tuesday Sports Update – Angels Top Rangers

(Arlington, TX) — Elvis Andrus hit his second home run of the young season but the Rangers lost to the Angels 8-3 in the opener of a three-game series at Globe Life Park. Joey Gallo drove in the other two runs for Texas, which fell to 4-and-8 overall. Doug Fister yielded three runs in five frames to dip to 1-and-2. The Rangers resume their three-game series with the Angels tonight at Globe Life Park. Martin Perez will get the ball seeking a 2-and-0 start. Astros Shut Out Twins Behind Verlander

(Minneapolis, MN) — Justin Verlander and three relievers combined on a six-hitter as the Astros shut out the Twins 2-0 at Target Field. Verlander struck out nine while allowing four hits and a walk in seven frames for his second win. Ken Giles got the final out for his first save. J.D. Davis had an RBI single in the sixth and Marwin Gonzalez doubled home a run in the eighth. Houston has won three in-a-row. The Astros continue their three-game series with the Twins tonight in Minnesota. Dallas Keuchel gets the ball still seeking his first win. The Twins will counter with right-hander Jake Odorizzi.

Spurs Get Past Kings

Thunder Clinch Playoff Spot In Win Over Heat

(Miami, FL) — The Thunder clinched a playoff spot with a 115-93 win against the Heat at American Airlines Arena. Russell Westbrook recorded his 25th triple-double of the season, tallying 23 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists. Paul George hit five threes on his way to 27 points for Oklahoma City, which is 47-and-34. Miami was outscored 39-to-12 in the fourth quarter as they fell to 43-and-38, putting them seventh in the Eastern Conference. Josh Richardson scored a team-high 18 points in the loss.

Lawsuit Accuses Three MSU Basketball Players Of Rape In 2015

(East Lansing, MI) — More trouble is on the horizon for Tom Izzo and the Michigan State basketball program. A lawsuit filed yesterday accuses three Spartan basketball players of raping a female student in 2015. It was placed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan. The woman is still at the school, but the three players aren’t. No one is specified by name.

Mayweather Bodyguard Shot

(Atlanta, GA) — Floyd Mayweather Junior is once again finding himself in some controversy. One of Mayweather’s bodyguards was shot Monday when three cars were heading to a hotel in Atlanta. The boxing star was in one of the cars, but not the one that was shot. Atlanta police stated they don’t believe this was a random shooting. Gregory La Rosa was shot in the leg and has already been released from the hospital.
