Tuesday Local Election Returns

While the Presidential Election results continue to trickle in nationwide, local races here in Amarillo have been decided. In the Texas House District 87 race, Republican Caroline Fairly received 79% of the vote over Democratic opponent Timothy Gassaway. Fairly will replace Four Price. H.R Kelly will continue on for another term as Potter County Commissioner, Precinct 1. Kelly got 70% of the vote over challenger David Martinez. Four of the five City of Amarillo propositions failed to pass, many of them by a wide margin. Propositions A, B, C, and D did not pass. Proposition E which allows the mayor to appoint a city council member in the event of a vacancy did pass by a margin of 55% to 44%.
