TTUHSC to Host “Disaster Day” For Students

Students from multiple Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center schools will team up with Red Cross staff and volunteers, the City of Amarillo Fire Department, and the Amarillo Medical Response for Disaster Day.

The event will take place Friday, March 10th from 1 pm until 5 pm at the TTU School of Veterinary Medicine, and will be a student-led simulation of disaster response.

Student teams will come together to diagnose, treat, and care for individuals role-playing as patients and populations affected by a natural disaster.

Teams will practice mass casualty triage and apply reasoning and decision-making skills through teamwork, communication, and understanding of roles and responsibilities.
