Troubled Wastewater Treatment Facility To Receive Improvements

Among the expenditures approved by the Amarillo City Council Tuesday were monies to help improve and maintain the troubled Hollywood Road Wastewater Treatment Facility.

Replacement parts of analytical equipment, emergency pump and filter rental, and the six month lease of a dewatering sludge rotary drum thickener are included in the more than 500 thousand dollars cleared Tuesday.

Assistant City Manager Floyd Hartman says the expenditures “help address some of the more significant needs at the Hollywood Road Wastewater Facility, which was built in the 1960s.”

The River Road facility will also receive some replacement parts.

Funding comes from water and sewer revenue generated by the city.
