Tiny Homes Proposal Rejected

A  village of tiny homes proposed for homeless veterans in the Willow Creek section of Amarillo has been shot down.

Potter County will not be donating land to the non-profit, Homeless Heroes, to put the small home village together.

Last month, The Potter County Commissioners Court voted to allot 10 acres of land at Willow Creek in Northeast Amarillo to Homeless Heroes.

Yesterday’s Potter County Commissioners meeting brought out many River Road residents who were up in arms against the village.

A lot of the concerns from residents include if the location would actually help veterans. Other concerns included transportation, public safety and whether the location would actually be helpful to veterans.

The proposal was voted on twice by the Commissioners, with it failing on a three to two vote.

Tiffany Bellflower, Founder of the Homeless Heroes declined the offer but asked that people help her with making the tiny village homes a reality somewhere.
