Thursday Sports Update – The Masters Begins Today

(Augusta, GA) — Tiger Woods is set to play his first Masters in three years. The 42-year-old 14-time major champion is back competing and contending this season after dealing with multiple back surgeries the last few years. Woods is a four-time Masters winner, but hasn’t won a green jacket since 2005. His last major championship was 10 years ago at the 2008 U.S. Open. He’ll be paired with Marc Leishman and Tommy Fleetwood for the first two rounds. Sergio Garcia is the defending champion. Legends Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player will take ceremonial first tee shots.

A’s Stump Rangers

(Oakland, CA) — Sean Manaea fired eight solid innings as the A’s stumped the Rangers 6-2 in Oakland. Fister lasted less than four innings to take the loss for Texas. Shin-Soo Choo homered in defeat. Astros Edge Orioles

(Houston, TX) — Alex Bregman singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Astros edged the Orioles 3-2 and swept the three-game series at Minute Maid Park. Marwin Gonzalez plated the tying run with a sacrifice to the pitcher in the sixth, while Jake Marisnick had the other RBI for the ‘Stros, who improved to 6-and-1 with their fifth straight win. Brad Peacock pitched three scoreless innings to pick up the win in relief.
