Thursday Sports Update – Rangers Rally Past Tigers In 10th

(Arlington, TX) — Nomar Mazara smacked a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Rangers to a 5-4 win over the Tigers at Globe Life Park. Mazara also tied the game with a solo shot in the seventh for the Rangers, who took two-of-three in the series. Keone Kela picked up the win with two scoreless frames. Texas is off tonight before traveling to face the Astros tomorrow.

Astros Rally To Sweep A’s

(Oakland, CA) — Max Stassi and Derek Fisher hit back-to-back solo home runs in the seventh inning to lift the Astros past the Athletics 4-1 in Oakland. The home runs made a winner out of Gerrit Cole, who tossed six innings of one-run ball. Cole struck out nine as he improved to 4-and-1 on the year. Ken Giles pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save. Yuli Gurriel added a two-run double in the eighth for Houston, which swept the three-game series. The Astros are off tonight before hosting the Rangers tomorrow.

Celtics Eliminate 76ers

(Boston, MA) — The Celtics are moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston closed out the 76ers in Game Five of their second-round series 114-112 at TD Garden. Rookie Jayson Tatum paced the Celtics with 25 points and Jaylen Brown added 24. The Celtics will host LeBron James and the Cavaliers in Game One on Sunday.

Rockets Clash With Warriors Monday

(Houston, TX) — The Rockets clash with the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals starting Monday in Houston. The Rockets own home-court advantage after finishing first in the West. Games One and Two will be here in H-Town before the series shifts to Oakland for Games Three and Four. The Rockets won two-of-three games during the regular season against the Warriors.

Preds Host Jets In Game Seven Tonight

(Nashville, TN) — The Jets clash with the Predators in Game Seven of their second-round playoff series tonight in Nashville. Woods In Players Championship For First Time Since 2015

(Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) — Tiger Woods is in the Players Championship for the first time in three years. The two-time Players winner is paired with former champs Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler for today’s opening round at TPC Sawgrass near Jacksonville, Florida. Fowler won the title on the notoriously tough course in 2015. Mickelson won in 2007 and Woods won it in 2001 and 2013. Cowboys Open Rookie Minicamp Tomorrow

(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys open their three-day rookie minicamp on Friday at the Star in Frisco. All nine draft picks along with 18 undrafted free agent players will be present along with multiple tryout players and eligible non-rookies. At least 40 players in total are expected to be present. The camp will run through Sunday.

Cowboys DE Gregory preparing to apply for reinstatement

(Dallas, TX) — Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory is close to applying for reinstatement to the league.Gregory, who hasn’t played since the 2016 regular-season finale, istaking the steps necessary to file paperwork with the league next week, the Dallas Morning News reported, citing a source. Gregory, who missed the entire 2017 season after being suspended for at least one year for violating the NFL’s policy for substance abuse, has received support from his teammates.

Stars Host NHL Draft Next Month

(Dallas, TX) — The Dallas Stars will host the 2018 NHL Entry Draft next month at the American Airlines Center. The two-day affair will take place on June 22nd and 23rd. A Fan Fest will be hosted at Victory Plaza, and there will be music, food, autographs and more. The Stars own the 13th overall pick in round one.
