Thursday Sports Update – Rangers Edge Mariners

(Seattle, WA) — Robinson Chirinos laced a two-run double in the seventh inning as the Rangers edged the Mariners 7-6 in Seattle. That hit put Texas up for good in the road win. Matt Moore gave up four runs over five-and-a-third innings and Tony Barnette came away with the win. Mike Minor gets the start in the series finale today. Yankees Take Rubber Match From Astros

(Bronx, NY) — Gary Sanchez singled in two runs in the fifth inning to erase a 2-1 deficit and the Yankees went on to beat the Astros 5-3 in New York. Dallas Keuchel gave up seven hits and four runs over five innings to take the loss. Max Stassi hit a two-run homer for Houston and added an RBI-double. The Astros have lost four-of-five games.

Capitals Edge Golden Knights, Tie Series

(Las Vegas, NV) — The Stanley Cup Final is tied at one win apiece. Alex Ovechkin and Brooks Orpik scored second-period goals to give the Capitals a 3-1 lead and they held on to edge the Golden Knights 3-2 in Game Two in Las Vegas. Lars Eller also scored for Washington. The best-of-seven series now shifts to D.C. for Game Three on Saturday.

Warriors Clash With Cavaliers In Game One

(Oakland, CA) — Game One of the NBA Finals tips off tonight as the Warriors host the Cavaliers in Game One at Oracle Arena. It’s the fourth straight year the Warriors and Cavs have met in the Finals. Golden State has won two of the three series so far. Cleveland’s lone win was in 2016 when it rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win in seven games.

Cowboys Continue OTA’s Today

(Frisco, TX) — The Dallas Cowboys continue organized team activities today with their final practice of the week. Defensive lineman David Irving still hasn’t participated in OTA’s as he works himself back into shape. Guard Zack Martin is still holding out for a new contract and hasn’t practiced. Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power was at practice yesterday as a visitor.

Cowboys Shuffle Roster

(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys made a few roster moves on Wednesday. Dallas brought running back Darius Jackson, who was drafted in the sixth round by the Cowboys back in 2016. The ‘Boys also signed defensive tackle Antwaun Woods and wide receiver Mekale McKay, and released defensive lineman DeQuinton Osborne and offensive tackle Jay Robertson.

Texans Continue OTA’s Today, Clowney Out

(Houston, TX) — The Houston Texans continue organized team activities today with their final practice of the week. Jadeveon Clowney is still recovering from knee surgery in January and won’t participate in OTA’s. He should be ready for training camp.

Frisco Minor League Team Names New Executive

(Frisco, TX) — A local minor league baseball team has a new president and general manager as of this week. The Frisco RoughRiders, an affiliate of the Texas Rangers, announced on Tuesday that Andy Milovich is now in charge. Milovich is the former top executive with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The Pelicans and RoughRiders are among the minor league teams under the Greenberg Sports Group. Chuck Greenberg, a former CEO of the Texas Rangers, began operating the RoughRiders in 2014.
