One person was killed in a fire late Thursday afternoon.
The Amarillo Fire Department has released the identity of the person killed in the South Austin Street fire Thursday afternoon as 56-year-old James Paul Beasley.
Amarillo police working a case in that area were called to that home when they noticed the fire. They then notified fire crews.
APD reports an officer attempted entry to the home, but was not able to do so. Shortly thereafter, fire crews were able to remove the victim from the home and moved the person to the yard where EMS took over.
Officials say Beasley was pronounced dead at the scene around 6 p.m. A dog was saved.
That fire is under investigation.
