Things To Do This Holiday Weekend

The Rex Baxter building at the Tri-State Fairgrounds is hosting the Xtreme Fast Draw World Finals Championship. That got Friday morning, and will run through Sunday.

The WFC website says it is the fastest timed sport in the world.

Nine rounds of competition Friday. Saturday will feature the final three rounds and men’s and women’s finals. Following a church service Sunday, the Team Championship will feature a double elimination between the top two teams. 

The grand finale will take place later on Sunday.

A little something for the young ones…The Don Harrington Discovery Center is hosting its Labor Day Camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday for children ages 3 years old through 4th grade for a day of learning new science topics.

The camp will include amazing demos, epic experiments, explorer-approved creations to take home and hands-on learning with qualified educators.

Here’s something you may not have thought about doing over the Labor Day Weekend…taking in a movie at the drive-in.

The new owners of the Tascosa Drive-In say they will be showing Despicable Me 4 and Inside Out 2 over the holiday weekend.

T he 16th Annual Crime Stoppers Car Show is Saturday.

It’s at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex, so weather should be no factor.

It opens at 10 a.m. and will wrap up by 4 Saturday afternoon.

Plenty of amazing rides to see, plus there will be vendors, door prizes and a silent auction.

Admission is $5, kids 10 and under are free. All money to benefit Amarillo Crime Stoppers and Student Crime Stoppers.

The West Texas Building and Construction Trades Council and the Amarillo Central Labor Council will host the 2024 Labor Day Picnic Monday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Memorial Park.

Organizers say the picnic is open to everyone and aims to celebrate community spirit, resilience and camaraderie.

Among the things to do will be bouncy houses and dunk tanks along with music and entertainment.

Bring an appetite! There will also be free hamburgers, hotdogs and beverages.
