The City of Canyon Breaks Ground on Kylie Hiner Memorial Park

Canyon area kids and families will soon have a brand-new playground where they can spend their afternoons and weekends.

Thursday, October 20th city officials broke ground on the Kylie Hiner Memorial playground, set to be one of just two parks in the area designated for those with special needs.

The city partnered with the southwest chapter of AMBUCS in 2019 to begin fundraising, and recently passed its goal of $1.2 million raised.

The playground is named in honor of Kylie Hiner, a Canyon resident who lived with autism and passed away in 2017 at the age of 25.

The mayor of Canyon, Gary Hinders, talked about the planning process and how he feels with regard to the community’s newest addition.

The playground will be located in the southwest corner of Conner Park in Canyon, with construction on the facilities set to wrap up in May of 2023.

For more information on the park or Kylie and her story, visit the AMBUCS website.
