The Amarillo Zoo Welcome New Furry Friend

Amarillo Zoo has a new resident.

A one year old female black bear cub recently brought to the zoo after multiple captures near humans and or communities by6 the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish.

The cub has found new life in Amarillo because in New Mexico any wild animal caught by state officials near or around humans or communities is subject to euthanasia

So far, the cub does not have a name, nor available for public viewing.

She’s being acclimated to her new environment including a 25 year old male black bear which has been at the Amarillo Zoo since 2004.

The two are getting introduced through a fence.
