Texas Tech White Coat Ceremony Includes Amarillo Natives

August 1st in Lubbock will see two medical students local to the Amarillo area receiving their White Coats.

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center will be presenting the white coats, which is a symbol associated with medical physicians.

This ceremony will honor 180 students with their coats, including Jessica Sutterfield from Amarillo and Brianna Mendoza from Dumas.

Though Covid-19 has shown many challenges not seen before in medical practice, the drive to enter the field is high, with an 18% national increase of applications to medical school throughout the country over the past few years.
