Texas Tech University School of Pharmacy Hosting Medication Cleanout Event

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is teaming up with the Texas Panhandle Poison Center for a spring Medication Cleanout event.

Residents in Amarillo and the surrounding area can bring their unused, expired and unnecessary medications including syringes for proper disposal.

Medications should be left in their original containers.

The event will be in a drive-thru, drop-off format that allows residents to conveniently dispose of their medications without leaving their cars.

Yard signs will be posted to help drivers locate the drive-thru path.

Officials with the school say since 2009, more than 60,000 pounds of medication have been disposed of.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 24 School of Pharmacy located at 1300 South Coulter.
