Texas Route 66 Festival to Take Place This Summer

The Centennial anniversary of the historic Route 66 will take place in 2026, but the City of Amarillo is getting ready to celebrate the milestone in a big way.

Wednesday morning marked the beginning of the festivities, as a press conference at The Big Texan Steak Ranch was held to get ready for the Texas Route 66 Festival from June 1st to June 10th of this year.

We spoke to co-owner of The Big Texan, Bobby Lee about the importance of commemorating such a historic road.

With the huge tourist effect Route 66 has brought in for the panhandle, Amarillo Convention and Visitors Bureau Director of Tourism Christy King spoke about the impact this event will have on tourism in the future.
