Texas EDC President/CEO Blasts Amarillo Mayor, Council

The president and CEO of the Texas Economic Development Council, Carlton Schawab, issued a statement in which he appears to state the actions of Amarillo Mayor Cole Stanley and the city council are “laughable” going as far as accusing the mayor and council of “shameful” and “border-line hateful” treatment of AEDC President Kevin Carter.

Schwab questions the advice given the city council by Austin attorney George Hyde, calling into question his statement that all EDC expenditures must be approved by the council on a bi-weekly or monthly basis.

Schwab’s statement seems to come at the request of what the statement describes as “supporters of The Amarillo Economic Development Corporation” who, according to the statement, sought Schwab’s “take one the issue, and the hiring of George Hyde.”
