Texas Department of Public Safety Task Force Hits Crooks Where It Hurts

A joint operation involving multiple agencies resulted in 11 being arrested and 12 being given citations for theft.
On June 12th and 13th, The Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division Special Agents conducted a joint operation targeting theft at local businesses in Amarillo.
The operation involved K-9 units, and the Potter and Randall County Sheriff’s Offices.
The operation led to the arrest of 11 people and citations for theft written to 12 others.
Those arrested are:
- 44-year-old Lawrence Baca of Amarillo – Theft of property – Felony – Booked into the Potter County Jail
- 31-year-old Jorge Ortiz Jr of Amarillo – Theft of property – Misdemeanor – Booked into the Randall County Jail
- 44-year-old Kevin Owen of Amarillo – Possession of a controlled substance, unlawful carry of a weapon by a felon – Felonies – Booked into the Randall County Jail
- 24-year-old Traevin Blount of Amarillo – Attempting to evade on foot – Misdemeanor – Booked into the Randall County Jail
- 46-year-old Jacob Smart of Amarillo – Possession of a controlled substance – .62 grams of fentanyl – Felony – Booked into the Potter County Jail
- 41-year-old Heather Mayes of Amarillo – Possession of a controlled substance – 2.37 grams meth – Felony – Booked into the Potter County Jail
- 48-year-old Wendy Harlin of Amarillo – Possession of a controlled substance – .2 grams of fentanyl – Felony – Booked into the Potter County Jail
- 37-year-old Sara Wedgeworth of Amarillo – Three misdemeanor warrants for theft of property – Booked into the Potter County Jail
- 35-year-old Susan Kyle of Amarillo – Theft of property – Misdemeanor – Booked into the Potter County Jail
- 29-year-old Alexander De La O, undocumented immigrant – Theft of property – Misdemeanor – Booked into the Randall County Jail
- 20-year-old Jace Williams of Amarillo – Unlawful carry of a weapon by a felon (stolen), evading arrest in a vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and possession of marijuana – 1.4 pounds – All felonies – Booked into the Potter County Jail

- 37-year-old William Dewald of Amarillo
- 62-year-old Tina McClain of Amarillo
- 44-year-old Tawona Riles of Amarillo
- 23-year-old Miguel Hermosillo of Amarillo
- 37-year-old George Marck of Amarillo
- 51-year-old Eric Pierce of Amarillo
- 24-year-old Mercedes Rodriguez of Amarillo
- 30-year-old Jeremy Mason of Amarillo
- 35-year-old Jessica Milbach of Amarillo
- 35-year-old Marsha Bell of Amarillo
- 56-year-old Kimberly Goodman of Amarillo
According to DPS, law enforcement recovered $19,759 in stolen property in this two-day joint operation.
