Teen CERT Program-Highland Park ISD and Amarillo.

The City of Amarillo and the Highland Park School District are teaming up to bring a Teen Cert program to help bring increased school safety to the school campus.

The Certified Emergency Response Team will train people to respond to natural disasters and other emergency situations.

With an increase in active shooter events, the school district thinks having an extra layer of safety on the campus is necessary to ensure student and staff safety.

The CERT program was brought to the Panhandle to help the community’s needs during emergencies, and the Office of Emergency Management thinks volunteers are needed in every community.
