Sweetgum Lane Water Main Break

The City of Amarillo is working on a water main break that occurred July 19th near Sweetgum Lane in area of Olympic Court and Cypress Drive in North Amarillo.

Crews are working to get the situation complete repairs though no timeline can be given as to when that work might be completed.

COA officials say the following steps have been taken and are currently underway:

• The affected portion of the main will be isolated by installing valves.
• Crews will install temporary service lines above ground to provide water to the impacted residences.
• Solid Waste will relocate and/or place new dumpsters along the curb on Sweetgum Lane starting today (Thursday) to minimize disruption for residents, Residents on Olympic Court and Cypress Drive, who are serviced by curbside carts, will not be impacted.

While residents may experience water pressure fluctuations, the City says no boil order is in effect.
