SWAT Standoff

A man is under arrest after a SWAT standoff At 12;24 a.m. Monday morning..

Police were called out to a home near Mesa for a possible fight. When officers arrived, they found a woman with injuries telling them the suspect had left the area.

One caller added that gunshots had been fired.

Officers saw the man running away and broke into an office building near Ridgecrest.

The officers set up a perimeter around the building, due to the witness’s report of gunshots.

SWAT was called in taking over the perimeter of the building and tried to negotiate with the man. When negotiation failed, police sent in a robot and found the man had barricaded himself inside.

Police finally gassed the man out of the building.

21-year-old Benjamin Berra had injured himself breaking into the building and was taken to the hospital and upon release was taken to Randall County jail and booked.

He’s charged vwith 3 counts of Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon , burglary of a building, evading and resisting arrest.

One of the victims was also taken to the hospital in serious condition while two other victims were treated at the scene.
