The Amarillo Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting Thursday afternoon.
At 10:29 a.m. a suspect was located at a home on North Buchanan Street and when
authorities approached he pulled a firearm and pointed it a the officers.
The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Aaron Marcos Valdez, was shot, taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died at 12:10 p.m.
Valdez had three felony warrants out of Potter County, one for aggravated robbery and two for an aggravated assault from the shooting incidents on Northeast 24th Avenue Tuesday.
No officers were injured and per APD policy, any officer involved in a shooting will be placed on administrative leave until cleared to return to work.
