Sunray Teen Killed In Rollover Crash

A single-vehicle rollover has claimed the life of a Sunray teen.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said that at  11 p.m. three miles southwest of Dumas, on Sunday night 18-year-old Ivan Villanueva-Garcia, of Sunray, was driving a 2003 Cadillac CTS northeast on Farm to Market 722 when he veered off the roadway and into the barrow ditch, causing the car to roll over.

Villanueva-Garcia was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle and DPS officials say they believe he may have fallen asleep behind the wheel.

 Moore County Justice of the Peace Barbara Mulanax pronounced the youth dead on the scene

DPS  Sergeant Cindy Barkley says that this crash remains under investigation and that information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigators’ findings.
