State Agency Says to Limit Consumption of Fish From Lake Meredith

The Texas Department of State Health Services has announced fish consumption advisories for lakes across the state, including Lake Meredith.

The organization recommends limiting the consumption of fish from the lake due to the presence of mercury contamination.

The most common form of mercury found in fish is methylmercury, and poisoning symptoms include the loss of peripheral vision, lack of coordination, muscle weakness, and more.

TDSHS says that adults should not consume more than two 8-ounce meals per month, while children should limit intake to no more than two 4-ounce meals a month.
