Some Facebook Accounts Now Have Tribute Section

When someone dies, what happens to their social media accounts? Well, on Facebook, the social network often turns that person’s account into a “memorialized account,” a special type of profile which can only be moderated by “legacy accounts,” or people chosen before death by the original account holder. Now TechCrunch reports Facebook has launched Tributes, a separate “space on memorialized profiles where friends and family can share memories of a loved one.” Legacy accounts will have the authority to moderate Tributes, including the ability to decide who can see and post tributes, the ability to remove tags of the deceased person as well as the ability to delete posts. Is there anyone in your life you’d trust in such a position?
