Skellytown New Fire Equipment

Skellytown has a new piece of equipment to make them more efficient at putting out  the next wildfire.

The emergency vehicle was donated to the fire department by a nearby ranch for their efforts in fighting the Smokehouse Creek Fire earlier this year.

Skellytown Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jacob Clifton says the Type One Tactical Tender holds up to 2,500 gallons of water and is used for wildfires instead of structure fires because of its ability to navigate tough terrain.

It can either navigate the difficult topography to get water to other trucks, or it can engage the fire itself.

The fire department chief says there are other projects in the works at the station thanks to the generosity of the community following the Smokehouse Creek Fire.
