They’re not telling, just asking. CVS and Walgreens are asking customers not to bring guns inside their stores, even in states where open carry is legal. They’re not the only major retailers, as WalMart, Target and Starbucks have already made this request.
I can make a million (okay, maybe just several) point/counterpoints to this request, and I honestly don’t know which way to lean.
Point: Wouldn’t it make employees and customers less jittery if people weren’t openly packing? Because seriously, how are any of us supposed to know anymore who the bad guys are when we’re out in public?
Counterpoint: If a bad guy comes into the store, don’t you want a good guy to be legally carrying a gun?
Point: How do I know that a person who is openly carrying is actually licensed and properly trained?
Counterpoint: If people leave guns in cars in parking lots, won’t the rate of gun theft increase dramatically? It’s already extraordinarily high because so many people leave guns in cars overnight.
And we could go on and on….and on. So, what do you think? Please take our KGNC Instapoll and let us know what you think. And, thank you!
Should CVS, Walgreens and other retailers ask people not to open carry inside their stores?
