Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Dead

A Randall  County Sherriff’s sergeant is dead following a crash Sunday afternoon.

Sheriff’s Office PIO Brandon Carpenter says 57-year-old Wayland Jay Claxton died after a 19-year-old woman smacked into a boat he was working on, at Buccola and Nick Street on the side of the street. 

Amarillo Police say Claxton was trapped under the boat trailer and died as a result of the injuries suffered in the crash.
