Second Person Dies As A Result Of Soncy Road Crash

An update to a story we brought you Wednesday on the vehicle vs. semi crash that claimed the life of an Oklahoma man. The passenger in 75-year-old Daniel Neely’s 2023 Jeep Cherokee, 75-year-old Jeanne Morgan has passed away. Both were from Checotah, Oklahoma.

Both were killed as a result of the crash that occurred on SL 335 and Soncy earlier this week.

Neely was pronounced dead at the scene, Morgan taken to a local hospital, at the time, in critical condition.

Texas DPS reported the Jeep Cherokee was struck on the driver’s side by a Volvo semi. The report noted Neely failed to yield the right of way and entered the path of the semi, the driver of which was not injured.

A Tuesday morning crash involving a semi and an SUV killed one person.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Alan Fernandez-Fierro of Hereford was in the 2004 Volvo semi traveling northeast on SL 335. As he approached the intersection of the Loop and FM 2590 – Soncy Road – a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 75-year-old Daniel Neely of Checotah, Okla. failed to yield the right of way and entered the path of the semi.

Despite his efforts to do so, Fernandez-Fierro was not able to avoid striking the driver’s side of Neely’s vehicle.

Fernandez-Fierro, 36, was not injured. Neely was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his vehicle, 75-year-old Jeanne Morgan was taken to an Amarillo hospital where she was last reported to be in critical condition.
