Santa Fe Pavilion Plan to Move Forward

A special Amarillo City Council meeting took place on Friday, June 17th to further iron out the plans for a new pavilion to be constructed at the Santa Fe Depot along South Grant Street.

Out of three possible options in regards to the parameters of the project, the council agreed to a 200 x 300 layout, resulting in a 25-foot eave height that was a part of these discussions for a multi-purpose facility during the most recent City Council meeting.

Director of Facilities Jerry Danforth explains the added workers needed to go through with this project.

Taxpayers should have no problem with a plan like this, considering the method to use hotel occupancy taxes to fund this.

City CFO and Assistant City Manager Laura Storrs explains the benefits of this new addition and what it could mean for tourism and the community.

With a total of $2.7 million into the pavilion, the overall timeline is still intact, as the plan is to have the base of this project done by October 31st.
