Roberts County Plane Preliminary Crash Report Released

A preliminary report was released by the National Transportation Safety Board in regards to the Roberts County plane crash.

The crash occurred near Canadian on February 15th. The report stated that weather was below the minimum for flying visually.

In addition to having to rely on referencing instruments, it was revealed that no flight plan had been filed either.

The pilot, 75 year-old Carmel Azzopardi, and sole passenger, 49 year-old Paula Azzopardi left from Tradewind Airport.

They were headed to Hemphill County Airport when the plane had hit the ground. Both the pilot and passenger died in the crash, and a fire consumed most of the wreckage of the crash.
