Refrain From Using Fireworks On New Year’s Eve

With the area getting ready to celebrate the new year, Amarillo Fire officials are recommending residents not to pop fireworks.

With both Potter and Randall Counties being under burn bans, a small spark can start a fire that will spread with the dry conditions the area is seeing.

Even Though there is a difference between a burn ban and a firework ban, they are still encouraging everyone to celebrate in a safer way.

Texas A&M Forest Service says if you do use fireworks or sparklers, use them in a safe area such as a long driveway and away from a potential fuel source.
