Reed Murder Arrest

Amarillo Police say they’ve made an arrest in the murder of Markell Toombs-Reed.

On Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, 18-year-old Kevin Fortuna was arrested for the charges of on view murder and tampering with physical evidence. Fortuna was booked into the Randall County jail.

Police have been asking for help from the public since October of 2023, to bring closure to the murder.

On January 26, 2023, officers responded to the area of Southwest 41st Avenue and South Travis Street on reports of gunshots.
Officers arrived to find 24-year-old Markell Damarion Toombs-Reed in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene
