Randall County Jail Expansion Creates Need For New Corrections Officers

Progress on the Randall County jail expansion is on target to be completed in January. That project was started in August of 2023 and will add 96 beds to the current 454 bed configuration.

The expansion project also creates the need to add 7 new correctional officer positions.

Those interested in a career with the Randall County jail will need to meet a set of requirements, including obtaining Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certification within the first year of employment.

Other requirements include:

• Must pass the required physical agility test
• Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license; have and maintain a good driving record
• Ability to read and write the English language
• Ability to meet specific physical requirements that may be established by departmental administration
