A nurse from the Physicians Surgical Hospitals has been nominated for an award by the Daisy Foundation.

The foundation focuses on programs recognizing the efforts of nurses.

Katie Sherman has been honored with the first Daisy Award for extraordinary nurses as part of the foundations recognition prrograms.

The foundation was established by the J.Patrick Barnes family after his death in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease.

PSH says the family was inspired by the care Patrick and his family received from the nurses and spurred them into making a way to express their thanks for the differences nurses can make in the lives of their patients and patient families.

DAISY Honorees have access to a whole range of grants and scholarship opportunities including reduced tuition and certification fees and grants for medical mission work..
