Prescription and Sharps Cleanout This Weekend

With the kickoff of national poison prevention week, the Texas Panhandle Poison Center and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center will be having a Medication Cleanout this Saturday the 19th. 

From 10 am to 2 pm, you can head to 1300 S Coulter for the drive-thru return. 

Professionals will be able to walk up and grab those medications and sharps that need to be disposed of.

Medications are better off disposed of in this manner so they don’t end up in a landfill or get added to the water supply, and the poison center recommends never to take previous medication for a new illness that wasn’t prescribed. 

Its also advised to keep the label on the bottles intact when handing them in, so the contents can be easily identified, and professionals will destroy all personal information afterward.
