Potter County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy

The Potter County Sheriff’s Office is taking applications for the next Citizens Academy.

Academy is a 12-week program to help residents have a better understanding of what goes on with the Sheriff’s Office through education and communication programs.

The classes start on September 7th and will meet every Tuesday for 12 classes.

• Sheriff’s Patrol Procedures

• Detention Center Procedures and Tour

• Criminal Investigations (CID)

• Criminal Intelligence Unit (SCIU)

• CPR Training

• Dispatch/communications/911

• Firearms/Simunitions Training – Safety

• Overview of the Judicial System

• Overview of the Potter County Sheriff’s Office

CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION

• Applicants must be at least 21 years of age

• Applicants who reside in Potter County, Amarillo, TX will be given preference

• Applicants must agree to a background check

• Applicants must have NO criminal record

• Academy classes will be limited to 32 students

• The Sheriff will make the final selection of Academy participants
