Potter County Jury Acquits Woman on First-Degree Murder Charges

A jury in Potter County has acquitted a woman who had been charged with first-degree murder stemming from a 4-year-old case.

Desiray Burk had been charged with the murder of Garyan Cain that occurred on May 5th of 2018 and was held in the Potter County Jail until 2021.

A criminal complaint alleged that Burk had shot Cain, but testimony later revealed that Cain confronted Burk with a pistol before a struggle broke out.

A state doctor confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the lower neck, but Burk was cleared of any wrongdoing.
