Portales Mayor To Quit

The Mayor Of Portales says he’ll be resigning due to health reasons.

Mayor Ron Johnson has been mayor of the New Mexico city for five years.

City Manager Sarah Austin says Johnson has been passionate in his leadership of Portales, and has been an incredible as a leader.

Jackson has served as the mayor of Portales since being re-elected in 2022, and said at last Tuesday’s City Council meeting that he plans to resign at the end of the year.
