Polk Street Facelift

Polk Street is undergoing a facelift courtesy of a $4.5 million dollar project approved by voters as part of the bond vote in 2016.

The city council approved the construction bid to Plains Builders in April.

The streetscape project will stretch between 10th Avenue and 2nd Avenue and will include bringing block faces up to Downtown Amarillo Urban Design and Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Additional upgrades and improvements include sidewalk, driveways, trash receptacles and trees.

The project is expected to take less than two years to complete.
