Perryton ISD Mental Health
Perryton Schools are breaking out the full mental health artillery when it comes to making sure their students are mentally prepared to take on the school year.
The town was racked by a tornado in June that took the life of one of its students,11-year-old Matthew Ramirez.
School counselors have received training in trauma and grief-informed care, so staffers can spot any problems, and help students with coping problems.
The counselors are trained in anger management, withdrawal, and mood swings,
Perryton schools are also warning parents to be on the lookout for mental stress in their child like bed-wetting, refusal to go to bed, getting into fights with their siblings, or withdrawal from family and/or school activities.
The Perrytnon ISD is trying to give students a chance toreturn to normalcy.
