Daylight Savings time doesn’t just impact how much you sleep, it impacts what you buy. Researchers looked at the behavior of people in North America and Asia who were sleep deprived for various reasons. They found sleep deprived people were more likely to fill their shopping carts with a variety of items in order to help them stay awake. This works much like one would listen to loud music or dink coffee to stay awake. Researchers say businesses could potentially vary their promotions or marketing strategies to capture the attention of the sleep deprived from day to day, especially right around Daylight Savings Time.
