Pantex Plant Getting New Explosives Building

The Pantex Plant will be getting an upgrade in the form of a new High Explosives facility.

The U.S. Department of Energy has picked Burns &McDonnell to design this new building, which will handle High Explosive Synthesis, Formulation, and Production.

The estimated cost ranges from $505 to $699 million and will cover an area of around 98,000 square feet.

This new facility will be essential to replacing outdated buildings on the property, and increasing production for weapons and formulation for polymer-bound high explosives.
