Panhandle PBS To Air “The Handle: Living While Black”

Panhandle PBS will be presenting a special series of The Handle.

Amarillo residents, Black and biracial of different ages and backgrounds will tell their stories of personal experiences not only in the panhandle but in the US.

The 6 episode series will air at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, from March 11 through April 15.

“The Handle: Living While Black” will examine topics such as the Black experience in Amarillo; the vocabulary of racism; local history and demographics; segregation, desegregation and the renaming of schools; and how to move from protest to action.

Panhandle PBS will also have 3 online events that will feature discussions with moderates and viewers.

  •  March 16 at 6 p.m.: What is Racism / Living While Black, Episode 1
  •  April 22 at 6 p.m.: Civil Rights Movements and Systemic Racism / Living While Black, Episode 3
  •  May 13 at 6 p.m.: Moving Towards Racial Equity / Living While Black, Episode 6
