Pallet Shelters can Put an End to Homelessness

368 people in Amarillo are listed as homeless with no shelter to go to– that’s 368 too many.

But during Tuesday’s City Council meeting, there was an idea proposed that could be a great solution for this issue.

Community Development Director Jason Riddlespurger took to the podium to propose a gated community approach for transitional housing called Pallet Shelters.

These shelters will be a part of the Guyon Saunders Resource Center but will not be regulated by the city if put into place.

The construction for this plan will take a year to a year and a half to complete, and for more information about the Community Development Department, visit here.
